Dr. KP Yohannan, Metropolitan Meets With Disaster-Affected Families in Sri Lanka; 250 Families Helped With Necessities

Dr. KP Yohannan, Metropolitan, along with a humanitarian assistance team from Believers Church Diocese of Colombo, visited Matara District in Sri Lanka on 13th July 2017 and met with the families who are still struggling to recover from the aftermath of floods and mudslides that ravaged the country in May.After meeting with the survivors of the twin disasters, Metropolitan Dr. KP Yohannan helped hand out relief supplies to each of the affected families. Bishop Lal Vanderwall, Bishop Dr. Simon John, Venerable Rev. Gam Maddegoda Vipulasena (Chief Incumbent of local Buddhist temple), Mr. Sumith Chandrasena (local government representative), Mr. Kumara Wickramananda (Village Mediation Committee President), officer in-charge of local Police Station and local government representatives were also present during the distribution of the relief materials.Altogether 250 families received the relief package which included dry ration and hygiene supplies and other essential items. Believers Church installed Bishop Lal Vanderwall as the first bishop of Believers Church Diocese of Colombo on 12th July 2017.
